Here is today's cannabis news in 60 seconds. Earnings, election follow-through, and a 2,800-year-old discovery.

Earnings

Canopy Growth's fiscal Q2 net revenue rose 22% to C$81.4M, with international revenue up 141% and its adjusted EBITDA loss narrowing to C$2.9M, though its net loss widened to C$40.7M. Aurora's export surge was led by Germany and Poland, and Zacks says its earnings and revenue beat estimates.

After the election

Massachusetts voters rejected Question 8 by about three to one. Wisconsin Democrats plan to pursue legalization with their new majority, and Pennsylvania Democrats have put cannabis on their 2027 agenda. In Congress, Rep. David Joyce, a Republican co-chair of the Cannabis Caucus, called for banking and states' rights reforms.

Texas

The Texas Tribune reports THC helped spur the state's blue wave. Lt. Gov.-elect Vikki Goodwin says she is not in favor of a THC ban, and MJBizDaily lays out how Texas could become the country's biggest cannabis market.

Hemp

Illinois' governor and a US senator are pushing for the federal hemp ban to take effect without delay, and THC drinks leave Illinois liquor stores on Nov 12. Missouri's attorney general promised more lawsuits against retailers after a federal judge dismissed a challenge to the state's hemp law.

Markets abroad

Canada's Budget 2026 streamlines cannabis excise stamps. The UK moved to classify THCA and HHC as Class B substances, and Kentucky's medical program passed 30,000 cardholders.

History

Researchers found traces of THC in hair from a Siberian royal tomb, which CNN calls the earliest direct evidence of people using cannabis, about 2,800 years ago.

The takeaway: the political map is moving fast, but hemp is going the other way, and businesses selling hemp THC have weeks, not years, to adjust.

Is your business planning for the Dec 11 hemp ban, or betting it gets delayed?
