Here is today's cannabis news in 60 seconds. The day after the midterms, the industry is reading the results as a reform map for 2027.

Congress

Democrats won majorities in both the Senate and the House. NORML is urging the new Congress to prioritize federal reform, and a Democratic lawmaker and a GOP Trump advisor are both calling for bipartisan work on legalization.

States

Top Wisconsin lawmakers say the state will legalize under its first Democratic trifecta in 16 years. Pennsylvania flipped its State Senate, giving it a legalization trifecta for the first time in over a decade. North Carolina Democrats flipped the state House, which opens a door for medical cannabis in 2027.

Texas

Democrats swept statewide offices, and Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick, who led the THC-ban fight, is out. AG-elect Nathan Johnson could end the state's legal fight against local decriminalization. The Texas Hemp Business Council called the result a powerful message.

Massachusetts

Coverage describes Question 8's defeat as a rout, with consumers and workers celebrating. Back in Canada, Curaleaf says its offer for Aurora remains outstanding despite Organigram's rival deal.

Earnings

Trulieve reported Q3 revenue of $230M, a 64% gross margin and $89M in adjusted EBITDA. Aurora's fiscal Q2 net revenue reached C$86.0M, with international medical revenue up 44% to a record C$61.4M. Cronos said Q3 revenue rose 75% on flower demand in Israel and Germany.

Hemp

New federal hemp rules tighten THC thresholds and restrict converted cannabinoids. Some Wisconsin companies say they will keep selling THC products despite the December ban, and Missouri's attorney general sued four retailers over alleged marijuana-as-hemp sales.

The takeaway: the election moved the debate from whether legalization advances to how fast, and in which states first.

Which state do you expect to move first in 2027: Pennsylvania, Wisconsin or Texas?
