Here is today's cannabis stocks recap, with the winners, the losers and the news behind the moves. The sector mostly drifted lower yesterday. The Canadian LPs lagged while the U.S. MSOs held flat.

ETFs: MSOS +0.25% ($4.05), MJ +0.58%, CNBS −0.63%, YOLO −0.78%

Winners

  • Auxly (CBWTF): +3.4% to $2.56, close to its 52-week high of $2.66
  • GrowGeneration (GRWG): +2.0% to $1.50
  • Organigram (OGI): +1.7% to $0.96
  • Ascend Wellness (AAWH): +1.0%, the same day it opened its third NJ social-equity store
  • High Tide (HITI): +0.8% to $2.69

Losers

  • Tilray (TLRY): −2.9% to $2.69, on the group's heaviest volume (4.3M shares) and just above its 52-week low of $2.62
  • Canopy Growth (CGC): −1.8% to $0.67, near its 52-week low of $0.65
  • Aurora (ACB): −1.7% to $4.08
  • Cronos (CRON): −0.9%, SNDL −0.8%

MSOs: Curaleaf $8.48 (−0.1%), Green Thumb $6.41 (+0.2%), Cresco $0.61 (flat). Curaleaf and GTI are both still far below their 52-week highs of $15.15 and $10.43.

How the news lines up with the moves

  • A rough day for Canada. CBC reported record seizures of Canadian cannabis being smuggled into Europe, and Quebec data showed overall use declining. Tilray, Canopy, Aurora and SNDL all closed lower, though Organigram and High Tide bucked the trend.
  • Rescheduling hasn't moved the MSOs yet. The DEA preparing its list of applicants is real progress, but with MSOS up only 0.25% and Curaleaf, GTI and Cresco flat, investors look like they want the list, plus actual banking and tax relief, before repricing.
  • Northeast growth. Ascend gained on the same day New York passed $4B in cumulative sales.
  • Hemp is one to watch. With federal and Illinois hemp-THC rules changing (Illinois' takes effect Nov 12), hemp-adjacent Turning Point Brands (TPB, $67.11) is trading below half its 52-week high.

These are correlations, not proof of cause.

What would move your outlook more: rescheduling or the ballot results?
