Here is today's cannabis stocks recap, with the winners, the losers and the news behind the moves. Friday was a broad selloff. Only three eligible names closed higher, and MSOS traded its heaviest volume in a week.

ETFs: MSOS −3.4% ($3.94, on 5.6M shares), MJ −4.2% (within 2.5% of its 52-week low), CNBS −3.6%, YOLO −3.8%

Winners

  • NewLake Capital (NLCP): +0.7% to $13.72
  • Scotts Miracle-Gro (SMG): +0.6% to $62.24
  • Auxly (CBWTF): +0.3% to $2.63, 1% below its 52-week high

Losers

  • Cresco Labs (CRLBF): −9.1% to $0.57, 3% above its 52-week low
  • SNDL: −4.6% to $1.24
  • Tilray (TLRY): −4.2% to $2.53, after setting a new 52-week low of $2.485 during the session
  • Curaleaf (CURLF): −3.7% to $8.27
  • Canopy Growth (CGC): −3.3% to $0.65, also at a new 52-week low

MSOs: Curaleaf −3.7%, Green Thumb $6.27 (−2.5%), Cresco −9.1%. Ascend was flat at $0.40.

How the news lines up with the moves

  • The fine print on rescheduling. The DEA issued its first federal registrations the same day, but only to about 900 of nearly 7,000 applicants. It refused businesses in states with dual medical and adult-use licensing, and it told registrants to source only from registered companies. MSOS fell 3.4% on its heaviest volume of the week.
  • Cresco's 9% drop came as it campaigned against Massachusetts Question 8, which goes to voters tomorrow. Polling suggests the repeal will fail.
  • Tilray hit a new low on Friday, then announced before Monday's open that it is consolidating its Canadian operations and raising its FY2027 EBITDA guidance. That news isn't reflected in these numbers yet.
  • REITs split: NewLake rose 0.7% while IIPR fell 2.7%.

These are correlations, not proof of cause.

Was Friday a "sell the news" reaction, or the market pricing in a narrower rescheduling than expected?

Not investment advice.
